Email (private and reliable communication) (#)

My public-facing email address for this website can be formed by appending only the green and/or underlined text in the following list together (in order): fox, groundhog, Wraith, tree, shrub, Glade, river, library, @, science, philosophy, ethics, protonmail.com, forge, alloy.

Feel free to talk to me for whatever reason you feel like, whether that's asking questions or just socializing or whatever else. I'm pretty open and would be happy to talk to you!

So, don't be shy, say hi! ๐Ÿ“งโŸถ๐Ÿ“ซ๐Ÿ˜

I pretty much always respond to everyone who messages me eventually, as long as they are human and not spammers or scammers. Just be patient with me. I am often busy. I also get flustered when I try to manage too much at once, just like pretty much anyone, and I tend to try to "do all the things" (especially regarding creative pursuits) too often. โณ๐Ÿ˜ต

IndieDB (community & directory of indie games & mods) (#)

I really love the sleek and tasteful design of this website! It just makes sense and feels right. It is one of my favorites from a while back, although all I did back then (years ago) was lurk, usually while not even logged in. Recently though I've revitalized my account there and have been enjoying using the site again! It is nostalgic for me. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ’พ

For whatever reason, one of the games that has always stuck out a lot in my memory fondly from there is a little-known game called Swoooords. The creator of that game later went on to release some commercially successful projects, which doesn't surprise me.

IndieDB also has a sibling site called ModDB. They both use the same account system by the way (so you only need one account to use both sites) and are entertaining to explore. The difference of focus is what you would expect: independent games vs game mods. They have forums too, which are well organized, like the rest of the site, though less active.

There's an old-school web surfing charm here that feels serendipitous and exploratory. ๐ŸŒ

Newgrounds (Flash-inspired gaming & creativity site) (#)

Newgrounds is a wonderful website for sharing a diverse range of creative mediums of expression. Originally, way back in the day, Newgrounds was known as a Flash game and vector animation website, but diversified over time. The Wikipedia page on Newgrounds covers the history some.

In fact, I still remember using the site back when YouTube had not yet really come into existence (or was much less known or more limited) and Newgrounds was actually (back then) the main site that people went to for watching "movies" on the internet, which at the time was mostly just vector animations because of limited internet bandwidth! The site has been around for a long while and is a highly influential internet hangout. How nostalgic! ๐ŸŽฌ๐Ÿ’พ

I plan to share some of my creative stuff there too. Feel free to message me. ๐Ÿ˜

Mastodon (decentralized social media platform) (#)

As of , after much deliberation (due to dislike of groupthink and politics, etc), I've also joined a Mastodon server called sunny.garden which describes itself as follows:

sunny.garden is a community for indie creators who draw, paint, sculpt, write, design, program, play, sing or build, and anyone else who thinks that sounds like a nice place to be.

I am hopeful that sunny.garden will be a wholesome and heartwarming place to meet and socialize with other creative people, in addition to the suffusion of good-natured community I've already found in the independent web and web revival movements and elsewhere.

Bluesky (a rival of Mastodon, descended from Twitter) (#)

As of , I've created an account on Bluesky in hopes of expanding my audience of good-natured people, hoping to reach more of them in greater numbers. Likewise, I hope that I can bring some measure of peace, compassion, nuance, and joy to those I interact there and hope for the same from them. My 1st post was a quote of a poem from Taoism.

The platform's filtering mechanisms sound helpful: I seek more peace, not less. ๐Ÿฆ‹๐ŸŒงโ˜ฏ

Ko-fi (crowdsourced support of indie creators) (#)

Ko-fi enables you to support independent creators (of any kind) directly via a variety of mechanisms: donations (one-time or monthly), digital downloads, physical goods, personalized or customized commissions, etc. The creators receive ~95% of the proceeds and the site also has some anti-AI policies and thus is an ethical platform.

Galleries of art and blog posts can also be browsed on Ko-fi and it functions somewhat like a community or social media platform. You can follow your favorite creators there!

Supporters (anyone who has contributed to a creator on the site) are also allowed to message creators. This is likely to get you prioritized attention from many creators.

Human-made, independent, creative, ethically produced work means so much to me and any support you can give me on Ko-fi or elsewhere would really help sustain that! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿค—

The more decentralized creative work becomes, the more free all of humanity becomes!

Supporting me on Ko-fi is one of the most effective ways to support my work! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฆ‰
