I pretty much always respond to everyone who messages me eventually, as long as they are human and not spammers or scammers. Just be patient with me. I am often busy. I also get flustered when I try to manage too much at once, just like pretty much anyone, and I tend to try to "do all the things" (especially regarding creative pursuits) too often. ⏳😵

Neocities Profile (akin to a social media "wall") (#)

Neocities has its own "Facebook-like" social media wall and website statistics system. Every Neocities site has one, which makes it possible to comment on webmaster's pages to show support, follow their site to be notified of their updates, see who they are following or followed by, and see general statistics on their site's web traffic.

Neocities is closely related to the broader "indie web" movement and many overlapping and similarly motivated movements, such as the web revival, digital gardening, retro web, old web/net, wild web, etc. Movements for more privacy and internet ethics also are related.

It's a beautiful movement and Neocities has one of the largest concentrations of people sympathetic for and supportive of it and for a brighter and healthier internet!

Newgrounds (Flash-inspired gaming & creativity site) (#)

Newgrounds is a wonderful website for sharing a diverse range of creative mediums of expression. Originally, way back in the day, Newgrounds was known as a Flash game and vector animation website, but diversified over time. The Wikipedia page on Newgrounds covers the history some.

In fact, I still remember using the site back when YouTube had not yet really come into existence (or was much less known or more limited) and Newgrounds was actually (back then) the main site that people went to for watching "movies" on the internet, which at the time was mostly just vector animations because of limited internet bandwidth! The site has been around for a long while and is a highly influential internet hangout. How nostalgic! 🎬💾

I plan to share some of my creative stuff there too. Feel free to message me. 😁

Mastodon (decentralized social media platform) (#)

As of 2024-08-12, after much deliberation (due to dislike of groupthink and politics, etc), I've also joined a Mastodon server called sunny.garden which describes itself as follows:

sunny.garden is a community for indie creators who draw, paint, sculpt, write, design, program, play, sing or build, and anyone else who thinks that sounds like a nice place to be.

I am hopeful that sunny.garden will be a wholesome and heartwarming place to meet and socialize with other creative people, in addition to the suffusion of good-natured community I've already found on Neocities and elsewhere.

Ko-fi (crowdsourced support of indie creators) (#)

Ko-fi enables you to support independent creators, intellectuals, and educators directly via a variety of mechanisms: donations (one-time or monthly), digital downloads, physical goods, personalized or customized commissions, etc. The creators receive ~95% of the proceeds and the site also has some anti-AI policies and thus is an ethical platform.

Galleries of art and blog posts can also be browsed on Ko-fi and it functions somewhat like a community or social media platform.

Supporters (anyone who has contributed to a creator on the site) are also allowed to message creators. This is likely to get you prioritized attention from many creators.

Human-made, independent, creative, ethically produced work means so much to me and any support you can give me on Ko-fi or elsewhere would really help sustain that! 🥰💞🤗

The more decentralized creative work becomes, the more free all of humanity becomes!

Payhip (independent online digital store platform) (#)

Payhip has two contact-related features: (1) a contact form (which you can use for whatever you want: asking me questions, sending me your thoughts, just chatting with me, etc) and (2) an email list that you can join (via the "Follow" button on Payhip) so that I can thereafter send you emails to announce new products or events or offer extra discounts or whatever else seems like a good use for it. I hate spam though, so don't worry. I won't use it to pester you. I'll only use the list substantively: to announce things and such.

Anyway, using Payhip as a means of contact aside, Payhip is also a great well-formatted, discoverable, and explorable website for finding interesting and useful little-known gems from various independent creators across the globe. I plan to add more items to my Payhip page over time (much like the same is true of my Ko-fi page). I receive ~95% of every transaction made to me on Payhip or Ko-fi. Both are wonderful ways to support my work and I really appreciate any support you can give! 😎💌
