The Porcelain Pixel (sculpted pixel art)
This page is a gallery intended to hold artwork that is a hybrid of pixel art and digital sculpture. Specifically, I make these by first sculpting models in 3D digital sculpting software and then later post-processing the renders from that sculpting software and/or manually drawing new pixels over the rendered image until the artwork looks like pixel art to my satisfaction. Thus, the technique creates an interesting and unusual hybrid art style. 🧐🎨
The image of a ghostly hand reaching out of a flurry of leaves on the front page of this site was also produced this way, but that image is not duplicated here, for both thematic and pragmatic reasons. It saves energy and reduces server load too. Reducing waste matters!
Also, in case you are curious, the name "The Porcelain Pixel" that I've given this online art gallery was chosen because porcelain is a type of high-end clay, which is what sculptors often work with, and thus the intent is to evoke an analogy embodying the concept of sculpting pixel art instead of making it the usual way. It also sounds like an old tavern name.
